Reinvesting in Our Community Campaign
When people make Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community their home, they can stay connected to the things they love. We strive to be the welcoming, nurturing, caring place we each would want to call home. For more than 60 years, our mission has driven us to create a community that represents the best that retirement living has to offer.
Our legacy of innovative, compassionate care, rooted in Mennonite heritage and values began with a charitable gift. Today, that care continues because of the generous support of VMRC residents, families, friends and members of the larger community. Our commitment to generosity upon which we were founded has not wavered.
Together, we can provide more and reach farther. We are asking those who care about VMRC and share our values to join us in Reinvesting in Our Community by supporting four important projects.
A state-of-the-art Transitional Care space in Oak Lea to improve the experience and outcomes for short-term rehabilitation patients.
Our desire to be trailblazers in nursing innovation drives us to seek new ideas and better ways of responding to the ever changing needs of older adults. We plan to transform our current Transitional Care space into private suites, each with a private shower and sitting area in the bedroom. This new modern facility will help patients regain their health and reduce future hospital stays. A new therapy gym with the latest equipment will help patients practice daily living activities. An outdoor therapeutic walking path will help patients gain strength, mobility and confidence on various ground covers.
Increasing the Compassion Endowment to offer all residents the peace of mind that comes with financial security, even as needs and circumstances change.
No one wants to worry that an extended illness or changing circumstances could force them from their home. The Compassion Endowment secures lasting support to provide for residents who have outlived their resources. The presence of this fund grants peace of mind and the assurance that VMRC residents can always remain here, at home.
A dedicated Nurse Education Endowment to help our staff achieve the highest skill levels for the benefit of the entire VMRC community.
The nursing staff who work tirelessly to care for residents and family members are the heart and soul of VMRC’s promise to residents. Your support of the Nursing Education Endowment is an investment in our nursing staff and the excellent compassionate care that they strive to deliver each day.
More intentional connections to Woodland Park with new elevator service in Crestwood, expanded shuttle service and a new community center – creating a sense of community and connectedness for all VMRC residents.
Our plans to make it easier for residents to visit with one another is to extend the hours of the campus shuttle. This vehicle provides door-to-door service from apartments on campus to Woodland Park and will provide greater service from all VMRC locations. An additional elevator to be located at the southwest side of Crestwood will extend the convenience of our already interconnected buildings to Woodland Park.Close
