“Making Connections” will be presented 10-11:30 a.m. September 16 in VMRC's Strite Auditorium in Crestwood, 1401 Virginia Ave. The seminar will teach new techniques for communicating effectively with persons with Alzheimer’s diseases and is geared toward caregivers and family members.
“Making Connections” is part of Memory Care at VMRC, a program designed to care for persons with memory loss disorders and to provide education and resources to their caregivers. Phone (540) 564-3559 for more information.
The Wellness Center at VMRC will be open free Sept. 20-24 to persons 50 and older. Visitors and prospective members can tour the Wellness Center, use the facilities and have the application fee waived if they become a member during the week.
Various programs will be offered free including presentations on the following topics: “Healthy Aging, Feeling Good at Any Age,” “Lifestyle Improvement Through Physical Therapy,” “Increase Your Confidence and Improve Your Muscles Through Balance Enhancement,” and “Never Stop! Exercise Through the Aging Continuum.”
Active Aging Week kicks off with a 5k walk, race, roll on VMRC's campus 9 a.m. Sept. 18.
The next exhibition of resident and staff art will be June 30 through September 27. Multimedia pieces will be displayed along the Art Walk Gallery between Park Gables and Heritage Haven.
