Assisted Living

Crestwood is an assisted living community in which residents receive the services they need to continue to live independently. Crestwood can be your solution bringing you the comforts of home without the work or worry. Whether you need assistance with daily activities, meal preparation or medication reminders, Crestwood gives you the support you need so you can continue to embrace and enjoy life. Our compassionate teams will develop an individualized plan of service for you or your loved one. Crestwood is the answer for people who need some support but not the care of an intensive nursing center.

Residents at Crestwood continue to enjoy their favorite hobbies, trips and socializing with family and friends. Current residents of Crestwood have rated the community in the top 10 percent of the national benchmark for assisted living communities. Friendliness of staff, quality of care, wellness programs and social opportunities are all rated above the national benchmark by our current residents.

Residents with memory issues and other cognitive challenges receive expert, compassionate care with an emphasis on consistency and stability given by familiar, friendly faces through Memory Care at VMRC  -- a program within Crestwood tailored specifically for elders with memory loss impairments.

Crestwood represents a community in which elders have choices, support and dignity. Schedule a visit or a tour by calling, 540-564-3400 to learn why our residents have peace of mind about living at Crestwood. Request information.

Long Term Care

Long-term care at VMRC is provided in Oak Lea, a fully accredited nursing center. Oak Lea care is available to anyone 55 and older. Our aim is to provide a supportive environment which enriches our residents’ lives and promotes their independence through individualized care. We do this through caregivers who focus on ensuring that residents’ needs are met with compassion, dignity and respect for residents’ choices.

The atmosphere in Oak Lea seeks to provide comfort, security and fulfillment to residents. Caregivers value providing comprehensive, quality health care in a caring faith-based environment. Oak Lea’s program tops all area nursing homes with the ratio of caregivers to residents. The ratio of certified nursing assistants to residents is one of the highest in the nation, and a team of RNs, LPNs and assistants is on duty 24-hours a day. This ratio far exceeds any area nursing care program and we believe equates to superior quality care. Creating an environment of dignity which focuses on strengths and honors the individual is what we call “person-centered service.” What does this mean to residents and their families? Their satisfaction exceeds national standards.

Caregivers develop relationships with residents, getting to know residents’ preferences and other special touches which make living at Oak Lea enjoyable – like the home-cooked meal recipes from residents or the resident/staff social events.

Our staff provide clarity to the uncertainty you may face about long-term care options. Call today to speak with our staff, 540-564-3400. Request information.

Skilled Care/Rehab

VMRC offers an excellent post-acute rehab program for any older adult in our community transitioning from hospital to home. Our multidisciplinary team integrates modern health-care practices with individualized attention so you receive the best care available. Our rehab services focus on realistic goals intended to shorten your hospital stay and lay the groundwork for a successful discharge home or to a lower level of care. Together with your rehab team, you will set realistic treatment goals, identify obstacles to success and develop a plan to overcome those obstacles.

Your Medicare benefit or other insurance will cover up to 100 days of skilled care for medical conditions such as hip fractures, joint replacements, broken bones, strokes, pain management, and surgical wound care.

Older adults using Oak Lea’s rehab program have access to the complete array of services we offer including restorative nursing, rehabilitation services and even life enrichment support. Skilled Care provides post acute transitional care needed to bridge between the hospital and home.

Our skilled care program is located in a distinctive neighborhood of VMRC’s nursing center, offering newly designed décor, carpeted rooms, personal TVs, and other amenities.

Skilled nursing care and rehabilitation services are performed by our highly trained, professional staff providing quality care in the same tradition that has been synonymous with Oak Lea and VMRC since 1954. Enriched living can be yours with a successful rehab program. Learn more by calling, 540-564-3662, or to preschedule your short-term stay with us.

If you'd like to learn if your medical condition is included under Skilled Care and Rehab Services at VMRC, call our Transition Coordinator at 540-564-3662. We'll be happy to answer your questions or schedule a tour. Request information.

Subsidized Apartments

Heritage Haven is the only government-subsidized retirement community in the area. A Section 202 loan from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) finances the 150 apartment home community. HUD also provides supplemental rental assistance (Section 8) to residents needing financial help. The rental assistance program makes it possible for Heritage Haven to offer rent rates which are based on a resident's income.
