Endowment Funds

Endowment funds create opportunities for ministry and outreach for our residents, staff and community. A strong endowment program enables VMRC to fulfill its mission of being a leading resource of quality homes and services elders need and want to age well. Contributing to any of these funds strengthens VMRC's ability to serve its residents now and into the future.

Compassion Endowment

The Compassion Endowment provides for residents receiving long-term nursing care at Oak Lea. VMRC annually serves about 50 residents on Medicaid or with limited finances who require additional monies each month to cover their cost of care beyond Medicaid and Social Security Income.

Memory Care Endowment

VMRC's Memory Care Endowment enriches the lives of elders living with Alzheimer's, dementia and other memory loss disorders. The need for memory care services will increase as our population ages. VMRC collaborates with the Alzheimer’s Association's Central & Western Virginia Chapter to provide educational opportunities for caregivers and resident families.

Life Enrichment Endowment

The Life Enrichment Endowment supports the work of VMRC’s wellness programs, pastoral and counseling services and other activities that enrich and stimulate the mind, body and spirit of our residents.

Shenandoah Valley Lyceum Endowment

This endowment was established in honor of Karl and Millicent Stutzman to provide educational and entertaining programs for residents of our community. Additional gifts will ensure a variety of high quality programs are brought to our campus.

VMRC Medical Nutritional Endowment

Established using guidelines from the American Dietetic Association, this endowment provides for medical nutrition educational opportunities to VMRC residents and community members. Generous support from Mary Ethel Heatwole, a registered dietician and VMRC resident, provided for this endowment. Additional gifts will provide opportunity for all residents to have access to a personalized nutrition education program.

Staff Development Endowment

The hallmark of service at VMRC is a dedicated staff, supported by a commitment to professional development. Your contribution to the Staff Development Endowment could help a certified nursing assistant become a licensed practical nurse.
