Charitable Giving

VMRC has operated in Harrisonburg for over 57 years, and has a strong, stable relationship between its staff and residents, their families, community members, churches and businesses. People who give to VMRC do so knowing their gifts are an investment that creates hope in elders—a hope that resonates with each of us as we age.

Giving Opportunities:

Good Samaritan Annual Fund
Named after the person who made gifts to care for a stranger in the Gospel of Luke, this fund provides for the daily shortfall for low-income seniors on Medicaid living in one of our Complete Living Care residences. About 50 residents each year benefit from the fund. Learn more.

Capital Equipment
Secures equipment that enables quality care and services.

Woodland Park
Woodland Park is a distinct neighborhood of private homes offering complete living care in a residential environment. Learn more.

Compassion Endowment
Provides for residents receiving complete living care at Oak Lea or Woodland Park.

Memory Care Endowment
Enriches the lives of elders living with Alzheimer's, dementia and other memory loss disorders. VMRC collaborates with the Alzheimer’s Association's Central & Western Virginia Chapter to provide educational opportunities for caregivers and resident families.

Medical Nutritional Therapy Endowment
Provides all residents access to a personalized nutrition education program.

Life Enrichment Endowment
Supports the work of VMRC’s wellness programs, pastoral and counseling services and other activities that enrich and stimulate the mind, body, and spirit of our residents.

Shenandoah Valley Lyceum Endowment
Provides educational and entertaining programs.

Staff Development Endowment
Grants dedicated staff the opportunity to better serve residents by developing professional skills, like helping a certified nursing assistant become a licensed practical nurse.

Estate Giving: Being a Visionary
Gifts can be made to VMRC through estate planning. Received at the time of death in the form of a bequest, trust, gift annuity, insurance policy, beneficiary of IRA or some other testamentary gift, these gifts can be designated for a particular fund, endowment, capital improvement project or for the area of greatest need.
