Meet the Medical Professionals:
Victor L. Buckwalter, M.D.
Dr. Buckwalter graduated from the Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. He completed an internship and family medicine residency at Lancaster General Hospital in Lancaster, PA and is board certified in family medicine. From 1993 to 2008, he practiced at Carilion Medical Group in Weyers Cave. He is particularly interested in adult family medicine, caring for patients with ongoing health problems and acute illnesses.
Dr. Buckwalter has an interest in global health and spent 12 years in East Africa participating in medical mission and service work. From 2008 to 2012, he was visiting lecturer in Moi University School of Medicine’s Division of Family Medicine in Eldoret, Kenya.
Currently, he is a member of the Mennonite Healthcare Fellowship, the Medical Society of Virginia and a diplomat of the American Academy of Family Practice.
Christopher Benjamin MSN, FNP-C
Harrisonburg Community Health Center Family Nurse Practitioner
Christopher Benjamin completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Virginia and has been a Nurse Practitioner since 1997. He has experience in primary care, oncology, geriatrics, and in medically under-served areas.
His predominant medical experience has been with older adults and their unique needs with a focus on health promotion, maintenance of independent living, and treatment of acute and chronic health issues. He has also lectured in geriatric pharmacology to nurse practitioner students at the University of Virginia and James Madison University.
He has lived with his wife Frances (a dedicated teacher) in the Shenandoah Valley for the last twelve years and enjoys travel, photography, technology, fitness, music, and movies.
