Explore VMRC
VMRC's campus is located in Harrisonburg, VA, in the Shenandoah Valley, surrounded by the beautiful Blue Ridge and Massanutten mountains offering a picturesque backdrop for our vibrant community. It’s a beautiful and peaceful area that offers outstanding outdoor activities like golf and skiing, or just a lovely day driving on the nationally renowned Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. There are nearby historic sites and museums, and we're just a quick car trip from the renowned Blackfriar's theatre (a reproduction of Shakespeare's legendary indoor theatre). Keep your mind active by taking advantage of the great continuing education classes available at nearby James Madison University or Eastern Mennonite University. VMRC is located right on a city bus route including Paratransit, and it's a pickup location for the airport shuttle. And if you ever get bored of Harrisonburg, remember that Washington D.C. is only a short drive away!
On campus, you'll be able to take advantage of the temperate weather with shuffleboard courts, a grassy are for bocce ball games, and an enclosed playground for visiting grandchildren. There's even a rose garden and a community garden for residents with green thumbs, and the produce is used in meals on campus. Our neighbor is Eastern Mennonite University, so it's a quick walk over to take advantage of their amenities as well like outdoor and indoor tracks, the university library, tennis courts, and a nature trail--all right next door!
Adjacent walking trails make it easy to enjoy the outdoor scenery, but there's also a climate-controlled walkway connecting every building on our campus that makes getting around easy and convenient in any weather. This seamless design sets us apart from other retirement communities.
