If you dine frequently at VMRC’s Main Street Café and Bakery, you may have noticed some fresh faces over the past several months. We invite you to get to know Lydia King and Chris Nash.
Lydia King, Restaurant, Catering and Special Venues Manager
Lydia joined VMRC in January of this year and leads the Front of House operations in VMRC’s restaurants and special venues and manages the planning and coordinating of catering events.
A native of the Shenandoah Valley, Lydia moved to Indiana after high school to attend Goshen College where she received a degree in ASL Interpreting with a minor in art. After graduating from college, she traveled the world, only to find the mountains calling her back home. Lydia said, “I feel that the work I’m doing at VMRC is meaningful and gratifying because I’m serving a friendly community of familiar faces.”
Fun Fact about Lydia: Her grandparents are residents of VMRC!
Chris Nash, Retail Operations Manager, Main Street Café
Chris started at VMRC as the Assistant Café Manager in the fall of 2021 before moving into the position of Retail Operations Manager where he oversees the day-to-day operations of the Main Street Café.
Chris has a wealth of experience and knowledge, including restaurant management and time spent in Dining Services at James Madison University.
Of working at VMRC, Chris said: "Building daily relationships with residents and being able to talk with them about their day or week is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. It's a feeling of extended family for me."
Fun fact about Chris: He is “very good at being bad at golf” and likes to play year-round
