Call for Artists

The Call for Artists is underway in preparation for VMRC’s 2023 National Juried Art Exhibition. This year’s exhibit will mark 20 years of delighting and enriching residents and visitors with gripping works of art. Artists have until Friday, March 17 to submit their work at the Call For Entry (CaFE) website.

Categories include:

  • Division 1 (Drawing/Painting/Printmaking)

  • Division 2 (Photography/Digital Artworks)

  • Division 3 (3-Dimensional/Fabric/Assemblage/Other Media)

New this year is the Professional Development Award.

Accepted artists will be eligible to apply for this award to help defray the costs of classes or workshops. Not only is VMRC showcasing talent, but also cultivating creative growth. This year’s jurors have also been selected. They were chosen for their seasoned knowledge of art in all its forms. This year’s jurors include: Pat Cross, a native of West Virginia, once enrolled as the youngest student admitted into Hank Keeling’s drawing class at the University of Charleston. Since then, her work has been displayed in more than 150 fine art exhibitions, including Realism New York, Bosque Art Classic, and Salon International. Collectors of her work live in the US, Canada, Australia and other countries worldwide. Her work can be seen at PatCrossArt.com. Joseph Hyde graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1983 and is based 3 miles from his birthplace in Baltimore. His work has been shown in many local venues, as well as at the Denise Bibro Gallery, the Woodward Gallery and the Edward Carter Gallery in New York City. His work can be seen at Baker Artist/J Hyde.org.

Luc Fiedler is an award-winning sculptor with an M.F.A. from the University of California in Sculpture and Intaglio Printmaking. In addition, he studied throughout Europe in the InturKultur Art and Architecture Off-Campus Program. His sculptures are collected widely, privately and publicly, and held in galleries across the U.S. His work can be seen at ElfStudios.biz.
