For Eugene, coming to work at VMRC still feels meaningful after more than 16 years. "Even after all those years," he said, "you wake up Monday morning and you’re happy to go to work because your patients become family."
What began as a summer job turned into a lifelong calling. Eugene first joined VMRC as a lifeguard in the pool, then moved into the outpatient clinic, helping with billing and administrative work. That experience sparked a new passion for physical therapy.
Supporting Recovery and Daily Life
Today, Eugene is part of VMRC’s Supportive Living Team, where he helps individuals regain strength, restore mobility, and improve overall well-being. He enjoys seeing people return to the activities they love and celebrates every milestone along the way.
"The best part of working here as a physical therapist," he explained, "is helping people feel better, improve their quality of life, and return to the things they love to do."
Supporting Residents and Neighbors Alike
Through VMRC’s rehabilitative and recovery programs, Eugene and his colleagues serve residents and the wider community, from student athletes healing after injury to older adults rebuilding strength and confidence. "We see all ages," Eugene said. "You talk with people, learn about their lives, their interests. That’s what makes this community so special."
Eugene describes the VMRC environment as one filled with kindness, teamwork, and genuine support. "From your immediate supervisor to top management and HR, everyone listens," he said. "If you’re looking for a new profession or new certifications, VMRC is open and willing to help."
