Celebrate Community and Connection: March 2026

Join us this March for a vibrant lineup of events designed to foster connection, spark curiosity, and celebrate the changing seasons! From educational lectures and interactive workshops to spirited social gatherings and off-campus excursions, there is something for everyone this month at VMRC.

Enriching Educational & Cultural Programs

  • Building Belonging Series: Engage in meaningful dialogue with Deputy City Manager Amy Snider on "Rebuilding Trust in Our Community" (March 4) or enjoy a special Women’s History Month life story presentation from resident Ruth Jost (March 31).

  • Guest Lectures & Discussions: Explore the science of aging with JMU Professor Kang (March 6), learn about the impact of cryptocurrency with Dr. Chengqi Guo (March 24), or join a book talk with local author Melodie Davis (March 10).

  • The Arts in Focus: Enjoy piano recitals by Dr. David Berry (March 9) and Simon Thomas (March 31), or visit the "Art Connects Us" Youth Art Exhibit opening in the Park Gables Gallery on March 21.

Social & Special Events

  • Spring Festival & Egg Hunt: All residents, staff, and families are invited to Woodland Park on March 20 for a festive afternoon of fun.

  • "Swing Into Spring" Baseball Dinner: Step up to the plate on March 26 for a signature dinner featuring ballpark-inspired food and special guests from the EMU Royals baseball team.

  • Friendly Competition: Test your wits at "Trivia with Dr. Kyle" (March 2) or join the 2026 NCAA March Madness Bracket Challenge starting March 16.

Adventures Off Campus

Explore the local community with organized trips, including:

  • An IL Country Drive through the beautiful local landscape (March 11).

  • Cheering on JMU Softball as they take on UVA (March 17).

  • A creative afternoon at YouMadeIt! Pottery Studio (March 19).

  • A visit to the JMU Planetarium followed by lunch at Vito’s Italian Kitchen (March 25).

Spiritual Life & Wellness

  • Worship Services: Join us for Sunday Worship at 10:00 AM in Strite Auditorium, featuring various guest speakers and special music throughout the month.

  • Wellness Highlights: Stay active with Cardio Drumming (March 20) and learn about managing chronic inflammation at our Therapy and Nutrition Talk (March 17).
