Purpose, Mentorship and Opportunity on the Nursing Journey
Nurses are at the heart of everything at VMRC. Their compassion and dedication make it possible for residents to live comfortably. Without our nursing team, the community simply wouldn’t function. It’s their commitment and care that create the strong foundation VMRC is built upon.
A Personal Journey of Purpose
For Chabeli Napoles, VMRC helped her realize nursing is not just a job but also her passion. “I love my job and building a connection with the residents,” she shared. Chabeli worked in long-term care for more than three years before joining our team at VMRC. On her last day as a CNA, the residents she cared for surprised her with a party, which was a heartfelt reminder of the bonds she built through her work. Her love for caring for others grew even stronger when she joined the VMRC team four years ago. Realizing it was her true calling, Chabeli decided to become a Licensed Practical Nurse and now continues her path toward becoming a Registered Nurse.
Mentorship & Opportunity
At VMRC, we believe in investing in people who care deeply. “VMRC values mentorship,” Chabeli explained. “They support you with your education.” Through tuition reimbursement, scholarship programs, CNA schooling, and continuing education opportunities, our team members are empowered to advance in their careers. We are proud to offer the Mary Reitz Nursing Scholarship, available to both VMRC staff and community members who are pursuing nursing.
VMRC also provides tuition assistance for eligible full-time and part-time employees. Some or all costs are covered for approved courses at accredited institutions, including full coverage for LPN programs. In return, recipients commit to bringing their skills and compassion back to VMRC to strengthen the community supporting them.
Forming Relationships
Unlike hospital settings where patients come and go quickly, VMRC offers nurses the opportunity to form lasting, meaningful relationships with residents. The continuity of care allows nurses to see their impact over time and become part of the residents’ stories. Through empathy and connection, the job allows staff to build relationships on trust and familiarity.
For those considering a nursing path at VMRC, Chabeli has one piece of advice: “Anybody that wants to be a CNA or LPN at VMRC and is kind of on the fence of doing it, I would definitely say do it.”
Whether you’re just beginning your nursing journey or seeking to grow in your career, VMRC is a place where purpose and compassion come together. With mentoring, education assistance, and a supportive team by your side, you’ll have the resources to grow with confidence.
